bw166
bw166 provides data, analysis, and strategic insight for the beverage alcohol industry, helping producers, importers, distributors, analysts, and other industry professionals better understand market trends and make informed business decisions.
Colorado Digital partnered with bw166 to transform its existing website into a modern digital publishing and subscription platform. The project included a comprehensive WordPress redesign, WooCommerce subscription development, customer and subscription migration, automated report delivery, subscriber account management, Mailchimp integration, SEO improvements, and managed hosting on Pantheon.
Rather than simply redesigning the public-facing website, Colorado Digital rebuilt the underlying digital workflow around how bw166 publishes, sells, distributes, and manages access to its industry research. The resulting platform provides a more scalable foundation for both bw166's existing publications and the integration of GFA Wine's established industry reports.

Project Goals
The primary goal was to turn bw166 into a centralized, self-service platform for subscription sales, report distribution, and industry content.
Key project goals included:
- Modernize the bw166 website with a clean, professional B2B user experience.
- Rebuild the subscription system using WordPress, WooCommerce, and WooCommerce Subscriptions.
- Centralize bw166 and GFA Wine report subscriptions within a single commerce and account-management platform.
- Allow subscribers to manage their own accounts, payment information, subscriptions, and authorized report recipients.
- Support tier-based recipient limits for different subscription levels.
- Automate the synchronization of subscriber and recipient information with Mailchimp.
- Create a secure report archive where customers can access publications associated with their active subscriptions.
- Simplify internal report publishing and reduce the amount of manual administration required to distribute new issues.
- Migrate existing users, subscriptions, orders, publications, and other account information into the new system.
- Improve site architecture, search visibility, metadata, schema implementation, and ongoing content marketing capabilities.
- Preserve important legacy URLs through a structured redirect strategy during the rebuild. Provide a scalable platform capable of supporting future reports, services, and digital products.
Project Results
The completed platform gives bw166 a substantially more sophisticated digital infrastructure for managing its research publications and subscriber relationships.
Colorado Digital implemented custom recipient-management functionality that allows subscription owners to add, remove, and update authorized recipients according to their subscription tier. Changes automatically synchronize with Mailchimp, including subscription creation, recipient updates, cancellations, and tier changes.
A dedicated report-management system was also developed, allowing bw166 administrators to publish reports, associate them with the appropriate subscription types, upload downloadable PDF files, and make those publications available through each subscriber's account. Customers can access their eligible reports through a dedicated report archive rather than relying solely on manually distributed files and email workflows.
The rebuild also reorganized the public website around bw166's industry reports, strategic services, data tools, insights, and expertise while establishing a stronger SEO and content foundation. Existing URLs were reviewed and mapped into the new information architecture to support continuity during the transition.
The result is a more scalable publishing and subscription platform that reduces administrative overhead, gives customers greater control over their accounts, and provides bw166 with a unified digital foundation for distributing both its own research and the established GFA Wine publication portfolio.
